And... we're back.

by craig February 27, 2009 15:21

Just changed my blog engine from Presstopia (lighter but less features and I frickin' hate VB) to BlogEngineDotNet (more features and C#). Oi that was a pain in the ass. On the up side, I think I've got it set up & working with MySql which my hosting service provides, thanks to this post over here.

If you go that route however note there's some issues with the SQL script, mainly having to do database case sensitivity. At least the installation of MySql my hosting service provides is case-sensitve. I was able to read the source and make the required changes, though. Good thing Real Programmers compile from source.

Unless you're on emacs, then you just use C-x M-c M-butterfly...

[edit: since everything seems to be running without boom, I uploaded the updated SQL script here: setup.sql.zip (3.78 kb). Change the "use blogengine" on the first line to whatever the name of your database is.]

The big confession

by craig February 25, 2009 19:10
I've come to realize that I'm different than most other people. I'm not sure when it started, but lately it's become increasingly obvious that the more conventional desires and my desires are not the same thing. It's painful to admit. There's no easy way to say this, so I might as well just come out with it.

I don't give a shit about my cell phone.

That's right. You heard me. I don't care if it's got a tilt-screen or QWERTY keyboard. I really don't care to play Guitard1 Hero on it. I don't need to check e-mails at the grocery store. Maybe I've just become too old, but I don't want to have to worry about rebooting my phone. Does the damn thing make a phone call? Yes? Good. End of story.

Whew. Glad that's off my chest.

Sic, but barely. But that's a rant for another time.

I did some experimentation tonight...

by craig February 24, 2009 21:51
...and actually listened to President Obama's speech. It's nice having a president whose oratory skills does not make me want to gouge out my ears with a spork for a change.

Lorem Ipsum and all that jazz.

by craig February 23, 2009 19:57
Here's my first blog post, and already I have an overinflated sense of importance in my opinions.

Still need to do some customization, but I just wanted to get it up and running for right now.
