I was talking with my friend, an artist, the other day about facebook. He was worried that some of the things put up there by one group of his friends, say his artist friends, might not be the sort of thing another group of friends, say someone who knows his wife from church, might not like.

I, on the other hand, like the notion of being the guy who links people who would otherwise not have anything to do with each other. It's like I'm making the world slightly more surreal, one facebook friend at a time.

My cat, The Snoop, was quite a prolific mouser when she was younger. After moving to the city with my mom a couple of years ago, with the cars, close neigbors, and what not we've made her into an indoor cat.

This morning she started meowing loudly. I figured she wanted her usual early morning feeding. But when I got up, she had a large dead mouse outside my bedroom door. I think she must have got it out of the garage.

At any rate, I think I heard what "I'm back, bitches!" sounds like in cat.

Here is the relative intelligence of your average house cat:

If the activity is something the cat wants to do:

• Can understand sentences.
• Can understand complex cause and effect relationships.
• Can do math, possibly including algebra.

If the activity is something the cat does NOT want to do:

• Will look at you with the expresion "I don't understand! I'm just a dumb animal!"

I wish the Democrats would stop refering to the loud and threating astroturfing of town hall meetings as "mob rule". It's not mob rule. Mob implies a large group of people that agree on something. Polls of actual Americans are at odds with the astroturfers. What we're really talking about is "rule of whoever can shout the loudest and craziest".
